Alpaca Project

4-H members ages 9 and up are welcome to join the new alpaca project.

We are going to:

• Learn to differentiate between llamas and alpacas and explore their history.
  
  
• Go on a field trip to meet alpacas.
  
  
• Learn animal ownership care and responsibilities.
  
  
• Fundraise and build a pen in preparation for acquiring alpacas at McClellan Ranch.
  
  
• Learn about shearing and uses for alpaca fiber.
  
  
• Explore alpaca showmanship and alpaca obstacle courses.
  
  
• Learn about breeding techniques and heath tips for alpacas.
